
What is a Plastic Washpactor Bearing?
A Washpactor is a device used in Sewage Treatment and is a screw conveyor that not only conveyors wash product, but also has the added function of de-watering the waste. The Washpactor bearing is a plain bush that is used to support the rotation of the screw, as well as having featured holes that promote the de-watering of the waste.
Benefits of Plastic Washpactor Bearings
- Dirty & dusty conditions – where traditional bearings suffer, plastics with high abrasion resistance such as Nylatron MC901 can provide maintenance free operation.
- Low Friction – metal-on-metal sliding results in higher friction than plastic-on-metal, increasing energy consumption and wear rates, opposed to the low friction of plastics.
- Reduced wear – traditional plain bushes such as bronze result in higher shaft wear and therefore reduced service life of both the bush and the shaft (or counter-face).
