Flush Fluid Distribution in Packed Sealing Applications
Dotmar’s propriety PTFE range, Tetron, is the ideal material for lantern rings used within packed glands and stuffing boxes to introduce and distribute flush or barrier fluid around a rotating shaft. Positioned between packing rings, the lantern ring creates a flushing zone that allows fluid to lubricate and cool the packing while helping protect the packing arrangement from process media. This supports effective shaft sealing and can help extend packing service life.
Lantern rings are commonly used in pumps and other rotating equipment across industries including chemical processing, mining, water and wastewater, food processing and general industrial manufacturing.
Tetron is well suited to lantern ring applications due to its low coefficient of friction and excellent chemical resistance. These properties allow the component to operate effectively around rotating shafts and in contact with a wide range of flush fluids and process media. Tetron’s low moisture absorption and temperature capability can also provide reliable performance in demanding operating environments.
