In commercial sausage production, extrusion dies play a critical role in shaping and controlling the flow of product as it passes through the sausage-making machine. In this application, a sausage making extrusion die was manufactured locally for a leading industry provider, replacing an OEM component used across a range of sausage-making machines. The locally produced solution eliminated long lead times while maintaining performance and reliability.
Ertacetal C was selected for this application due to its suitability for food processing environments and its excellent machining characteristics. As a food-contact compliant engineering plastic, Ertacetal offers low moisture absorption, good dimensional stability, and a smooth surface finish that supports hygiene requirements within food manufacturing operations. Its ease of machinability also allows complex, precision components such as extrusion dies to be produced efficiently and accurately, delivering a cost-effective alternative to traditional OEM-supplied parts.
