Belt Scraper

Application Spotlight: Ertacetal C & Polystone® M 7000 in Food Processing Belt Scrapers

In the food manufacturing industry, conveyor belt systems are critical to maintaining product quality and efficient production flow. In this application, a custom belt scraper was developed for use on a PTFE-coated Kevlar conveyor belt operating within a cooling tunnel. Traditional steel scrapers were causing excessive wear and posed a risk of damaging the delicate PTFE belt surface, leading to maintenance concerns and reduced operational reliability.

To address these challenges, the scraper head was manufactured from Polystone® M 7000, selected for its low coefficient of friction and non-abrasive surface characteristics. These properties provided excellent release performance while helping to protect the PTFE-coated belt from damage during continuous cleaning operations. The handle component was manufactured from Ertacetal C, offering the stiffness and dimensional stability required for reliable operator control and long-term durability in a demanding food processing environment.

The resulting belt scraper delivered a lighter-weight, smoother-operating alternative to the previous steel design. By reducing friction and minimising contact damage to the conveyor surface, the assembly helped extend belt life while improving cleaning performance. This application demonstrates how the combination of Polystone® M 7000 and Ertacetal C can provide an effective, food-safe solution for conveyor maintenance and product handling systems where surface protection and operational efficiency are critical.
