Thermoplastics Design Made Simple by the Experts

As engineering plastics replace metals in many applications, engineers are required to come to grips with the different performance parameters to ensure they specify the right thermoplastic material for the application.

Dotmar excels not only in the distribution of thermoplastic stock shapes, but also offers technical support, material selection and applications development advice across Australia & New Zealand. The latest CAD/CAM design software, CAMSAD (Computer Aided Selection and Design) and RITA (Röchling's Integrated Tank Building Assistant) are used to accurately design parts and components to the customer's specifications.

How does Acrylic compare to Polycarbonate?

Acrylic is more likely to chip and has less impact resistance then Polycarbonate. Polycarbonate offers exceptional impact resistance and is easier to work with because of its extra strength. It will also chip less and is less likely to break. Polycarbonate is also more bendable under normal working temperatures.

Please note: This is a relatively brief explanation using standard material grades to draw the comparison. For further details, please contact your nearest DOTMAR representative.
