Chain-Track and Conveyor Efficiency



In conveyor systems, chain guides and support profiles made from metallic materials, such as steel, cause heavy wear on the link plates and rollers of the roller chains, and on the links of round link chains.

In order to reduce wear and frictional resistance, and lower noise level, the chains have to be lubricated at regular intervals.

Excessive chain wear leads to premature - and often unpredicted - chain elongation. This introduces chain oscillation, destabilises the chain drive, causes irregular conveyor travel and reduces the operational life of the chain. Elimination of these problems cuts downtime and maintenance, substantially reducing overall costs and minimising the risk of expensive disruption caused by unscheduled breaks in production.

The Polyslide System of chain guides, slide profiles and Murtfeldt® automatic chain tensioners, is engineered to enhance productivity and minimise costs by avoiding such problems and reducing maintenance. The system is designed to be integrated into a complete materials handling system or to operate individually as stand-alone items.

The modular Polyslide chain-track system provides:

Chain Tensioning System
Spann-Box and Spann-Boy chaintrack tensioners from Murtfeldt® Plastics complement the chaintrack system. These self-tensioning devices permanently provide tensioning where required, and by following the chain elongation, prevent vibration and ensure a smooth conveying operation.
